On Sunday July 24th, at 6:00pm at the Gran Hotel Lakua in Vitoria, the prize will be awarded to the painter Koro Arandia, whose work entitled "Floating Thought" has been chosen by the jury as the winner of the II International EXPOCHESS Painting Contest.

The exhibition of the fourteen finalists will be exhibited to the public at the Piano Bar of the Gran Hotel Lakua until the end of August.
The paintings of this year, have had the provocative theme of WOMEN AND CHESS. So, what at first seemed an obstacle that would lead to a low turnout, he became an extra motivation that sharpened the imagination and ingenuity, resulting in a high quality works.

With this suggestive title, they will remain until next Tuesday July 26, the photographic exhibitions of AlavaVisión Association Cultural and Mexican collectives Cuarto de Luna and Gato Cíclope in the Ignacio Aldecoa Cultural Center (Vitoria-Gasteiz). There are three collections with more than sixty images showing Chess, the woman who plays, history, tourist beauties of Alava and Morelos (Mexico). In order to generate a visual display in which the importance and significance of Women Chess through photography and illustration is highlighted.

With this exhibition, inaugurated by Bakartxo Tejería (President of the Basque Parliament) and Pilar García de Salazar (Lieutenant General Deputy of Alava) on July 12, it began the festival of the Cross-Culture of Chess EXPOCHESS VITORIA-GASTEIZ 2016. Among the most famous visitors, in addition to those mentioned above, we must emphasize Judit Polgár (the greatest female chess player of all time) and the International Grandmaster Anna Rudolf.
